A Joyful Little Brass Band

Info and Registration

Rehearsals: Sunday evening at Syncopation Hall 6p to8p

July 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th and August 9th

Who’s it for?

If you love making music and want to dive deeper into the sounds of traditional jazz, this summer project is for you! Traditions of Jazz invites musicians of all ages—generally high school and older— for a fun, welcoming, and inspiring musical experience. A Joyful Little Brass Band Summer Program is intended for intermediate and proficient players who are ready to explore the traditional brass band experience.

If you’re new to traditional jazz, you’ll find encouragement, community, and plenty of great music here. Come play, listen, and learn with us—we’d love to have you!

What will we do?

This summer we are launching the very first JOYFUL LITTLE BRASS BAND! This summer group will rehearse on Sunday evenings, and will be working on 8 to 10 traditional brass band charts. We’re excited to announce we have been invited to provide “preshow” entertainment for CWACT’s production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It at Schmeeckle Reserve August 13-16. The play is incorporating a jazzy theme, and our music will be a lively addition to the start of their show- second line style! We will also be playing in the streets of Stevens Point and will be planning a final “social party” to celebrate all the musical fun we’ve had.

What’s the cost?

$50 per player. Although we are hoping for sponsorship for future iterations of A Joyful Little Brass Band, this first year we need to ask each participant to contribute.
